Trauma Treatment & Couples Therapy
Sessions are offered both virtually and in-person in Lambertville, NJ for ages 16+ in NJ, PA, CT, & VA.
Trauma Treatment
When all you know is fight or flight, red flags and butterflies all feel the same.
When we go through significant stressful experiences (or numerous ones), a primal system in our brain takes over. Our brain is hard-wired for survival, and in the face of threat that system kicks in. The only problem is, we aren’t fighting off saber-tooth tigers these days and we don’t always need to go into fight, flight, or freeze. In therapy we can re-wire this system and get back in control of our emotions and responses. Trauma is often misunderstood, but it is entirely treatable!
You don’t need to be in therapy forever to get relief. I use Cognitive Processing Therapy, an evidenced based treatment modality, to treat Post-tramatic Stress Disorder and trauma in as few as 7-12 sessions.
Couples Therapy
We all just want to be loved, cared for, and supported by our partner.
Most don’t intend to blow up their relationships or marriages, but many find themselves on the brink of disaster and reaching out to a couples therapist. Here’s the thing — conflict management and emotional regulation are not taught in school. Additionally, if you’ve had less than great relationship role models in your life, that’s like being on a life raft in the middle of the ocean unsure how to get to shore.
My message to you: there’s no shame in reaching out for help.
I use the Gottman Method, an extensively researched backed and evidenced based methodology for treating couples. My goal is to deepen the understanding between couples, and provide blueprints for success to handle conflicts.
I work with hetorosexual and LGBTQIA+ couples 🏳️🌈
Hi, I’m Jamie
I founded my practice to create a space for people to feel heard, seen, and to create positive change in their lives. I want mental health care to feel welcoming, accessible, and like a safe holding space to sort it all out.
I truly believe we are all out here doing our best, and that every person deserves an opportunity to heal and grow from adversity. We are all flawed works in progress, and that’s perfectly okay. I have had the opportunity to live this; and know what it’s like to be in the other seat. I’m so grateful for the healers in my life (shout out to Rary and Rena!), and find great purpose and privilege in being able to do that for others.
I guide clients by fostering space for exploration and curiosity while also integrating actionable practical tools. I specialize in helping people process their trauma, get relief from anxiety and depression, understand and set boundaries, and improve relationship functioning.
My practice is LGBTQIA+ affirming, strengths-based, and empathic.
