Obsessive-compulsive Disorder

What if?

OCD can show up in very different ways, it’s not always about being excessively clean and organized. It’s characterized by lots of “what ifs” or “maybe I missed something.” It shows up as reoccuring and uncontrollable thoughts (obsessions) and responding behaviors (compulsions) that feel urgent to repeat over and over again. Compulsions can be mental (i.e. reviewing past conversations, mentally replaying past events to ensure no harm was done), it doesn’t always have to be some action (i.e. handwashing, checking). OCD can involve thoughts that are hard to reach out and share about for fear of being judged.

There is no judgement over here. I am trained in Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT) which is an evidence-based approach to treating Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. I-CBT helps people understand how obsessions form in the first place, and deconstruct the OCD story from there.
