Why am I so anxious after having a baby?
This is probably not what you envisioned for yourself when embarking upon having a child. Perinatal mental health refers to mental health during pregnancy and the postpartum period. Depression and anxiety can crop up during pregnancy, after birth, or sometimes even a few months after bringing home your little one.
Whether you are feeling disconnected from your baby, adjusting to the changes of pregnancy (for you or your partner), your relationship is struggling to adjust to the big change, or you’re having intrusive thoughts, you do not have to figure this out on your own.
Having these thoughts or feelings are not unusual and with the right support you will get through this and feel like yourself again.
